The Three Steps to Become an NRA Instructor

Step 1: Take and pass the NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting course

The first step in becoming an NRA instructor is to take and pass the NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting course. This course is a must for anyone looking to become an NRA instructor, as it covers the fundamental principles of pistol shooting and gun safety. It is important to have a solid foundation in these basics before moving on to the next steps. They want you to experance what you will be teaching. 

Step 2: Pass the shooting qualification and hands-on portion

Once you have completed the Basics of Pistol Shooting course, you will need to pass the shooting qualification and hands-on portion of the training. This portion of the training will test your skills and knowledge of pistol shooting and gun safety. It is important to practice and prepare for this part of the training in order to successfully pass and move on to the next step. The qualification for Level 4 requires the shooter to fire 20 shots from a standing position at a target 15 yards away. 16 of the 20 shots must be within a 6-inch group on an 8 inch circle.

Step 3: Take and pass the NRA instructor course

The final step in becoming an NRA instructor is to take and pass the NRA instructor course. This course will provide you with the necessary training and certification to become an NRA instructor. It will cover topics such as teaching techniques, classroom management, and range safety procedures. Once you have completed this course and passed the required exams wit a 90% or greater, you will officially become an NRA instructor.
